A prominent Lebanese cleric said here on Tuesday evening that the Tehran declaration was a great political, diplomatic and spiritual victory for the Islamic Republic of Iran, IRNA reported.
Addressing a local seminar, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hizbollah Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said by signing a nuclear declaration with Turkey and Brazil, the Islamic Republic took a positive step towards the resolve of its peaceful nuclear dossier.
The arrogant powers which were attempting to exert pressure on Iran or even launch a military attack against that country have become disturbed by such a Tehran's move, he added.
He reiterated that Syria and the Lebanese Hizbollah are satisfied with the measure taken by Tehran.
Nasrallah said that signing of the declaration by Turkey and Brazil is of great importance, adding that the agreement reached between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was a good response to those interested in the existing differences between the Shiite and Sunni branches of Islam.
Those countries which were attempting to sow discord among various Islamic branches have been disappointed by the declaration, he noted.
Iran, Turkey and Brazil singed a joint declaration on May 17 dubbed as the Tehran Declaration upon which Iran agreed to exchange 1,200 kilograms of its low-enriched uranium for 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel to power the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.
The exchange would take place in Turkey under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.
According to the agreement, Iran must notify the IAEA about the deal "in writing" by May 24.
