Support provided by Tehran to Baghdad is strategic support, said Deputy Head of Iran's Armed Forces Headquarters Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri, Mehr news agency reported.
Deputy Head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that big changes coming up in the very near future in Iraq and Tehran's official position coincides with the position of the Iraqi government and Iraqi people.
General Jazayeri did not indicate what specific changes in Iraq he means.
"All freedom-loving organizations in Iraq and the Iraqi people are under the umbrella of our protection and will remain under it", Massoud Jazayeri said.
Commander of U.S. forces in Iraq General Raymond Odierno said last week that Iran provides weapons, provides financial assistance and engaged in teaching for at least three Shiite militant groups in Iraq to destabilize the situation in the country.
