The Iranian and Omani military officials on Wednesday reached agreement on bilateral defense cooperation and inked a memorandum of understanding on the issue, IRNA reported.

The Iranian and Omani military officials on Wednesday reached agreement on bilateral defense cooperation and inked a memorandum of understanding on the issue, IRNA reported.

In a meeting held in Muscat, Oman, in presence of Iran's visiting Minister of Defense and the Armed Forces Logistics Ahmad Vahidi and Omani Minister Responsible for Defense Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib al-Busaidi.

According to the agreement, the two sides underlined expansion of military and defense cooperation in order to ensure regional peace and stability.

The exchange of defense and military delegations between Iran and Oman as well as holding joint war games were among the articles of that agreement.

Vahidi departed for Oman on Tuesday morning to confer with the Omani top officials on various issues.

On Wednesday morning, Iran's defense minister held talks with Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said and reviewed ways to foster regional and bilateral cooperation.
