Supreme Leader calls for Muslims unity

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged the Isalmic Ummah to unity and fraternity, ILNA reported.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remark during his meeting with the visiting President of the Guinea-Bissau Malam Bacai Sanha on Monday.

Describing the Islamic Ummah as an important entity with grand potential, the Supreme Leader said Iran welcomed expansion of ties with Islamic countries, adding that all members of the Islamic Ummah have to adopt a policy of friendship and unity.

Referring to the significant position of the African continent, the Supreme Leader noted that despite the policies of colonial powers which generated many problems for the continent specially in western parts, nations are now wakeful towards such policies and are seeking cooperation with each other.

The Supreme Leader further pointed to the scientific and industrial achievements of Iran in post-revolution years and said Iran was ready to help African countries develop their countries based on their national interests.

The President of the Guinea-Bissau said he has been witnessing the tremendous development in Iran during his stay in the country. Malam Bacai Sanha said Iran's achievements were a source of pride for other nations, adding that his country, too, would use opportunities to further enhance ties with Iran.
