Two people detained on the suspicion of assassinating Iranian heart specialist Dr. Gholamreza Sarabi have confessed to the murder of the physician, Press TV reported.

"The two arrested suspects have confessed to the assassination of Dr. Sarabi and the investigation into the real motivation behind the murder of the Iranian physician continues," Tehran Criminal Interrogator Mohammad Shahriyari told ISNA on Sunday.

Dr. Sarabi who was shot in front of his office by an unknown assailant east of the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Sarabi is the second physician who was murdered in Tehran recently. Days earlier another physician and Tehran Medical Science University Professor, Abdul-Reza Soudbakhsh, was shot similarly in front of his office in the capital city.

The preliminary investigation into the case proved that two suspects were behind the criminal act. The suspects were arrested promptly and the investigation into the two criminal acts is under way.
