Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says strengthening anti-Israeli "resistance" will pave the way for establishing peace and security in the region, Press TV reported.
"Strengthening the [anti-Israeli] resistance front will not only encourage other countries to join this front, but will also pave the way for stabilizing regional peace," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Tehran on Saturday.
"The current regional situation is changing in favor of regional nations," Ahmadinejad said, adding that the countries could "form the most powerful economic activity by developing multilateral cooperation."
The Iranian president stressed the importance of developing bilateral and multilateral relations in the region, and said such cooperation could serve the interests of regional nations from economic, political and security perspectives.
Assad, who arrived in Tehran for official talks on the latest regional and international development on Saturday, is heading a high-rankling politico-economic delegation that includes Vice President Farooq al-Sharaa and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem
