Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi warns against "religious discord" in Lebanon, saying all Lebanese officials should remain vigilant to counter it.
In a meeting with Ibrahim Masri, deputy secretary general of the Islamic Jamaa, the Iranian envoy voiced Iran's full support for establishing stability and enforcing national unity in Lebanon, IRNA reported on Monday.
He said the Islamic Jamaa plays a leading role in endorsing resistance in Lebanon and added that it enjoys special position among Lebanon's Sunni Muslims, Press TV reported.
Masri, for his part, praised the Islamic Republic's stance on regional issues such as the Palestinian issue and its support for Islamic movements.
Roknabadi and Masri exchanged views on the latest developments in Lebanon and in the region.
