A senior Iranian cleric and politician stresses the importance of maintaining resistance among Palestinians as a fundamental approach to restore the rights of Palestinian people, Press TV reported.
"Past experiences have shown that rights of the Palestinian people cannot be restored without resistance," ISNA quoted Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani as saying in a Wednesday meeting with Palestinian Ambassador to Tehran Salah Zawawi.
Ayatollah Rafsanjani emphasized that any reconciliation that would not lead to the return of all Palestinian refugees to their homeland would be doomed to fail.
"The Iranian nation and government stand by the Palestinian people and will help them achieve their rights," the senior Iranian cleric went on to say.
Zawawi, for his part, expressed appreciation for the supportive position of Iranian officials on developments in Palestine.
