Larijani urges unity against enemy

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has urged the Iranian nation to maintain unity to thwart enemy plots and to overcome sanctions against the country.

"Maintaining unity is significant for the country since divisions could pave the way for enemies to take advantage of the situation ... to interfere," Larijani said, referring to remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Press TV reported.

According to Larijani, if the Iranian nation preserves its unity it would thwart plots by the enemy and would overcome sanctions.

"I don't say that divisions have aggravated sanctions and threats, but I think rifts would smooth the way for more threats and sanctions by Western countries. Our unity can make them fail," he added.

In an address to a huge crowd of people in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Islamic establishment could not resist against enemies if the Iranians did not have a complete presence in all scenes and if there were a rift between the people and the country's officials.

The Leader emphasized that the country's enemies failed to create a rift between the Iranian nation and the officials of the Islamic establishment.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Iranian nation to maintain national unity and strengthen its solidarity with the three branches of the state.
