A leading German legislator of opposition Greens lambasted Friday US-Saudi arms deal, saying it would destabilize Middle East and would not be helpful in resolving ongoing stalemate over Iran's nuclear program, IRNA reported.
Addressing a one-day international conference on the future of NATO at the German parliament, the Iranian-born MP Omid Nouripour said that the mega-conventional arms deal between the US and Saudi Arabia was the 'last thing the region needed.'
The is not the solution for Iran's nuclear program, added the 35-year-old Nouripour who is the security policy spokesman of the Green faction.
Critics of the massive American weapon sales to Saudi Arabia have argued this could spur a new round of arms race in the volatile Middle East region.
