President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Iraqi counterpart Jalal Talabani on Sunday held a telephone conversation on ways to expand bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, IRNA reported.

The Iranian president described 'excellent', the current relations between Tehran and Baghdad and expressed the hope that establishment of new Iraqi government would help usher in expansion of political and economic relations between the two neighboring states.

President Ahmadinejad pointed to his meeting with President Talabani on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York during which the two presidents discussed issues of mutual interests and expressed the hope for continued consultations with Iraq.

The Iraqi president, for his part, called for expansion of all-our relations between the two countries and expressed the hope to visit Tehran after formation of new Iraqi government.
