Iran dismisses reports on Ashtiani's execution

Iran dismissed western reports that Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani has been hanged in Tabriz prison, ISNA reported.

The Head of judiciary of East Azerbaijan province Malek Ajdar Sharifi stressed that she has not been executed.

"Western media are trying to create a poisonous atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran instead of dealing with their major responsibility," Sharifi said.

"She is in Tabriz prison and in perfect health condition," Sharifi said adding, "her case is being pursued by East Azerbaijan province's judicial system."

BBC, Le Monde and France 24 have already claimed that Mohammadi-Ashtiani prosecuted following adultery and complicity in her husband's death was hanged.
