Iranian president: Iran is among 17 most economically developed world countries
Iran is among 17 most economically developed world countries, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by ILNA news agency referring to the official website of the Iranian government.
Ahmadinejad noted that Iran will enter the top five most economically developed countries by implementing one or two economic plans.
However, the president did not specify the plans to be implemented to achieve this goal.
It was announced about reducing the state subsidies for the population on December 19. It actually means a fourfold increase in petrol prices and cuts in benefits for bread.
According to the World Bank, the economic growth hit 1.4 percent in Iran in 2009, 1,5 percent in 2010. As of the forecasts for 2011, it will hit 3 percent.
