A blast occurred on a gas pipeline on the 20-km of the Arak Highway near the Iranian province of Qom. The blast occurred at 6:30 a.m. local time, the Iranian asriran.com website reported.

A blast occurred on a gas pipeline on the 20-km of the Arak Highway near the Iranian province of Qom. The blast occurred at 6:30 a.m. local time, the Iranian asriran.com website reported.

The blast was felt in the province. No information has been provided on the reasons of the blast.

The blasts occurred simultaneously on three pipelines, the MEHR news agency reported. The incident took place in the Terlab area in the north of the Selefchegan city in Qom province. Deputy of the Qom Province Red Crescent Society's Emergency Situations Department Mohammadrza Behrami refused to comment on the incident saying that the department's staff is on the scene.

The agency reported citing the Qom Province Gas Company that the blast on the gas pipeline did not let to fatalities. The fire caused by the blast on the pipeline has already been extinguished. The work is underway to restore the blasted pipe. The report does not include the reasons for the incident.
