Iran will produce radar with a range of 3,000 kilometers by late 2011, the Fars news agency quoted Khatam al-Anbia Staff Deputy Chief Abulfaz Farmahini as saying.
Farmahini added that the project on the development of radar started in 2009. At present it is on the final phase of implementation.
After several tests, the radar will be installed at action points, he said.
In November last year, Iran put into operation a new radar system Esr, capable of ensuring the Navy's needs in the sphere of anti-aircraft defense in range C. Then Iran tested anti-aircraft radar installations within the military exercise "Vilayat-3." During the tests, anti-aircraft missiles were designed to destroy the virtual enemy fighters. Radar installations produced in Iran were directed at detecting unmanned stealth aircraft and identifying coordinates of their flights.
Radars Casta, Nabu, Kashev and Matla-e Fajr are manufactured in the country and successfully passed all tests.
In August 2010, Deputy Commander of Iranian Air Defense, Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Mansurian, said that Iran fully meets its needs for ground-based radar systems.
