Salehi: OIC should strive for restoring Afghans’ rights

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Monday that Organization of Islamic Conference should strive for restoring the rights of the Afghans and upgrade their life standards, IRNA reported.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, he made the remarks in a meeting with the OIC's permanent envoy to Afghanistan, Monir al-Zaman.

Salehi expressed dismay at presence of western forces in Afghanistan, and said that they have brought nothing of the Afghan nation.

Al-Zaman, for his part, appreciated Iran's constructive role to help restore peace in Afghanistan and hosting the Afghan refugees in the wake of the US invasion of Afghanistan.

The OIC envoy called for Iran to exercise more partnership with the OIC and other regional arrangements to help the Afghan peace and security.
