Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton discussed regional developments over phone on Wednesday, IRNA reported.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the telephone conversation, Salehi called on the EU to adopt a transparent stand on regional developments.
The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as bones of contention between the Islamic Republic of Iran and European Union.
Catherine Ashton, for her part, called for removal of existing hurdles to expansion of relations between Iran and the European Union.
