Iran's steel output to hit 15m tons

Iran's annual steel production will reach 15 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year (to end March 20, 2012), Deputy Industries and Mines Minister, Hasan Polarak, said here -MNA reports.

Iran's steel production capacity currently stands at 20 million tons.

According to the official, in 4 years some 22 million tons of steel, 400,000 tons of aluminum, and 400,000 tons of copper would be added to the country's production capacity.

The ministry has proposed to increase the capacity of crude steel and cement production by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (2015) to the targets of 42 and 110 million tons, respectively.
