Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 8 /Trend/

Pre-election headquarters in Tehran province will begin functioning on October 12, Governor of the Tehran province Tamaddun Mortaza said, Fars News Agency reported.

The headquarters are tasked to carry out arrangements for parliamentary elections, training of staff involved in the electoral process, public enlightenment and the necessary conditions to conduct fair elections, Tamaddun added.

Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said late August the elections should be well safeguarded as "a divine blessing".

The 9th Majlis (parliamentary) elections in Iran are scheduled for March 2012.
