Syrian developments to end well - Salehi

Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi voiced hope here Monday that Syrian developments would end well, IRNA reported.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Salehi said that by the help of regional countries, Syrian developments can provide people's legitimate demands under President Bashar Assad's governing administration.

"Any possible power vacuum in Syria will have unpredictable results," he continued.
Iran's foreign minister concluded that the political future of the region is bright.

Syria has experienced unrest for several months with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government has been blaming outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest were being orchestrated from abroad.

But, calm has eventually restored in the Arab state after President Bashar al-Assad started a reform initiative in the country.

The Syrian state television has broadcasted reports showing seized weapons caches and confessions by terrorist elements describing how they obtained arms from foreign sources.
