Iran FM stresses importance of finalizing joint projects with Tajikistan

Iran Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, in a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Hamrokhon Zarifi on sidelines of Istanbul Conference on Wednesday stressed importance of finalizing joint economic projects, IRNA reported.

The two countries' top diplomats surveyed in the meeting the latest status of bilateral relations and the rapidly evolving regional and international developments.

Salehi briefly reviewed the two countries' economic cooperation and particularly the various underway economic projects, stressing that finalizing them is of great importance in blossoming of the two countries' ties and the regional economy.

The Iranian Foreign Minister referred to the recent visit of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker, Ali Larijani to Tajikistan, adding, "In that visit the two countries' officials emphasized the importance of comprehensive ties, the need for the expansion of economic cooperation, and particularly called for the expansion of parliamentary relations."

Foreign Minister Zarifi, stressing the importance of the two countries' relations and cooperation, evaluated the status quo of bilateral ties as positive, even in economic field.

"The recent visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to Tajikistan and the meetings they had, including the one with their Tajik counterparts, and particularly with President Emomali Rahmon, were of great importance and with positive effects on bilateral relations", he said.
