The U.S. accusations for Iran of using its nuclear program for military purposes are baseless, Iranian Supreme National Security Council's Secretary Assistant Ali Bageri said at a press-conference in Moscow on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

"Iran believes that such a position of the United States is a result of Washington's defeat in all directions of its Middle East policy," Bagiri said.

He stressed that "the U.S. is weakening therefore it makes all kinds of rumors, including the use of the Iranian nuclear program for military purposes."

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano's report issued on Tuesday has provided indications that Iran has been developing nuclear arms, detailing a large number of nuclear-related projects and experiments, some of which might be ongoing.

Russia has criticized the disclosure of the IAEA general director's new report on Iran, saying such a decision would harm the settlement of the crisis regarding Iran's nuclear issue.
