Iran does not plan to provide wealthy Iranians with subsidies in the near future, deputy economy minister, head of the subsidy reform headquarters Mohammadreza Farzin was quoted by ISNA news agency as saying.
"We will concentrate on removing subsidies for those who do not need cash payments according to the law in the coming months," Mohammadreza Farzin said.
We are currently working to determine the wealthy people who have been registered by relevant organizations, he added.
The subsidy reform plan allows the Iranian government to gradually slash subsidies on fuel, electricity, and certain goods over five years.
