The Iranian parliament's development committee chairman has said that the plan for operating Qatar Airways in Iran is not still operational.

Ali-Akbar Aqaii told the Mehr news agency that the development committee had opposed Qatari airways increasing the number of flights to Iran to 70 from 21, unless the airways took on a number of domestic flights.

The managing director of the Iran's flag carrier HOMA had previously said Qatari planes can operate Iranian domestic flights only if they are registered as an Iranian entity.

Farhad Parvaresh told the IRNA news agency that Qatar Airways has been asked to operate Iranian domestic flights. According to Cabotage Law any foreign airplane can operate another country's domestic flights if it is registered in that country.

Cabotage is the transport of goods or passengers between two points in the same country by a vessel or an aircraft registered in another country. In aviation terms, it is the right to operate within the domestic borders of another country.
