The construction of Iran's largest gas condensate refinery has progressed by 40 percent, the managing director of Persian Gulf Star Refinery Tofiq Azamgin stated.

Tofiq Azamgin told ISNA news agency that the project has been designed in three phases and the first phase will come on stream by March 2013.

Deputy Oil minister Alireza Zeighami said in November that $600 million will be earmarked for completing the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in Assalouyeh.

Highlighting that about $200 million was allocated to the project last year, Zeighami said that about $1.4 billion has been spent in this mega oil project so far.

Zeighami said that the construction operation of this project has had a physical progress of 40 percent so far.

After the refinery is commissioned, it will have the capacity to refine 360,000 barrels of oil per day.
