The Iranian volleyball team has cruised past Egypt in the third-round action of the 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup currently underway in Japan, Press TV reported.

The Iranian team exhibited superior offensive and defensive skills during the match, and rolled to a straight set victory (25-18, 25-21, 25-15) on the second day of third-round action at Marine Messe sports hall in Fukuoka city on Monday.

Seyyed Mehdi Bazargarde notched a match-high 15 points for the winners, while Hamzeh Zarini and Alireza Nadi added nine each Reda Haikal was Egypt's top scorer with 14 points. Iran's Alireza Nadi was named the most impressive player of the match.

Monday's win gave Iran a 5-2 record for the 2011 FIVB Men`s World Cup, Egypt fell to 1-5. National Iranian volleyball team will face China on Tuesday.

The 2011 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup started on November 20, and is scheduled to wrap up on December 4.

The event will grant tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games to the top three finishers, who will join Great Britain as they have already secured a berth as the host country.
