Iran’s eight month non-oil exports surpass $28 billion

Iran's non-oil exports in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (ended on November 21, 2011) amounted to 28.6 billion dollars, showing a 39.5 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.

The Customs Administration Head, Abbas Me'marnejad, told the Fars news agency that imports hit 39.7 billion dollars in the eight-month period, indicating a six per cent decline year on year.

Iran has set a target of 41 billion dollars for non-oil exports in the current Iranian calendar year (to end March 20, 2012), an official with the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran said.

Iran's non-oil export items mainly include gas condensates, mineral fuels, chemical products, plastics, fruits, nuts, fertilisers and carpets.
