Iranian two Basij members have been assassinated in Eslamshahr city, Fars News Agency reported.

The Basij militia is an Iranian volunteer force of Islamic governmental loyalists which is often called out onto the streets during the crisis to remove dissent.

Late Supreme Leader Imam Khomeini originally set up the force in 1979 as a resistance force during the Iran-Iraq war.

Eslamshahr is located in the country's south-eastern region in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

The Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan, is densely populated with Sunni. Jundallah (Army of God) created in 2003 operates primarily in Sistan-Baluchestan. Jundallah uses a variety of terrorist tactics, including suicide bombings, ambushes, kidnappings and targeted assassinations.
