Iran-Tajikistan economic relations outlook

The vice chairman of the Iran-Tajikistan friendship society's economic committee has reviewed the bilateral ties between the two countries and said Iran is among the top five investors in Tajikistan.
According to the Mehr News Agency, Maisam Abbasi added that, over the next five years, Iran is projected to invest 1 billion euro in the Central Asian state.
Iran has invested some $15 million during the past nine months in Tajikistan's private sector projects.
Iran has implemented several projects in Tajikistan, such as the Sangtudeh-2 power plant and the Esteghlal tunnel. The two countries are currently carrying out some other projects, such as the Raghun power plant, which is being built near the city of Dushanbe.
During the past two years, the number of active Iranian companies in Tajikistan has increased to 167 from 61. This issue highlights interest between the two sides to expand economic relations.
