The Iranian navy commander Habibollah Sayyari claimed that the Islamic Republic has the capability to build aircraft carriers, but the country does not feel need in this issue for the time being.
"We do not follow the path of arrogant powers in the region," Habibollah Sayyari said, adding that the country just seeks to secure national interest, IRNA news agency on Saturday.
In January, the commander of Iran's Armed Forces advised a U.S. aircraft carrier, which had left the Persian Gulf because of Iran's naval war games, not to return to the sea, otherwise Iran will take actions.
"We advise, recommend, and warn them that this aircraft carrier should not return to its previous place in the Persian Gulf, because we are not used to repeate a warning and give a warning only once," Major General Ataollah Salehi said during the closing ceremony of the 10-day naval war games which was staged in a large area from the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Aden.
