Iran will increase gasoline price next calendar year, which starts on March 20, the head of the Transportation and Fuel Management Organization Mohammad Royanian said.

"Taxi and bus fares will be probably increased by 20 percent next year," Mohammad Royanian told Pananews news agency.

The daily gasoline consumption has decreased to 59.5 million liters from 64.6 million liters after implementing the Subsidy Reform Plan, he said.

Gasoline consumption in Iran averaged 59.9 million liters per day during the third week of the current calendar month of Esfand (March 6-14), showing a 2.8 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.

The highest amount was related to March 8 when 65.9 million liters of gasoline was consumed, Shana news agency reported.

Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company Alireza Zeighami said that Iran's gasoline production will rise next year by 18 million liters, or about 118,000 barrels, per day.

The increase in output is expected to occur after completing development projects at seven refineries, Zeighami said.
