The Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar Salehi announced on Wednesday that the Omani embassy in London will look after the Iranian interests in Britain and the Swedish embassy in Tehran will take care of the British interests in Iran, Mehr reported.
Salehi made the announcement in talks with reporters upon his return from Kazakhstan to Tehran late on Wednesday.
The decision to open interest sections was made after Salehi and the British Foreign Secretary William Hague met on the sidelines of a security conference in Kabul, Afghanistan, on June 14.
It was the highest-level contact between the two nations since relations were nearly severed after students in Tehran stormed the British Embassy in Tehran in November last year.
