Iran will consider selling its own surveillance drones to other countries at the highest government level, Iran's aviation commander General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said, ISNA reported.
In April 2012 Iranian defense officials said that Tehran has received numerous requests for information on the craft and that China and Russia have shown most interest.
The Islamic Republic has recently revealed that it has been able to extract very important information from the captured U.S. RQ-170 surveillance drone.
"We were able to get something our enemies did not want us to get," Hajizadeh said. "The information we were able to get from the drone is very important to us".
Hajizadeh said that Iran to manufacture its own drones based on the model of RQ-170 drone. Iran's Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said yesterday that Iran has gained access to new details about the captured US drone.
The RQ-170 Sentinel has been widely used since 2010 in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It played a role in the raid in which Osama bin Laden was killed last year, analysts say.
The unmanned surveillance plane lost by the United States in Iran was a stealth aircraft being used for secret missions by the CIA, US officials admitted in December of 2011.
The RQ-170 has been used by the CIA for highly sensitive missions into other nations' airspace, including months of surveillance of the compound in Pakistan in which Osama bin Laden was hiding before he was killed in a May raid by Special Operations forces.
