Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar will pay a two-day official visit to Armenia to discuss avenues for bolstering Tehran-Yerevan cooperation, Press TV reported quoting an Iranian official as saying.

During the two-day visit, slated to begin on July 9, Iranian and Armenian officials will exchange views on economic, social, cultural, political and commercial issues, Deputy Interior Minister Mehdi Mohammadi-Far said on Sunday.

"The visit is aimed at signing a protocol on security, border, trade and commercial cooperation and developing border markets," he added.

He noted that the Iranian minister would hold talks with his Armenian counterpart and a number of the country's senior officials.

Iran and Armenia have taken major strides towards promoting mutual relations over the recent years, particularly in the energy sector.
