Prime Minister of legitimate Palestinian government in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh received IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's invitation to attend Tehran 16th NAM Summit Friday.

According to IRNA, foreign dispatches reported Friday that the office of Hamas Prime Minister issued a communiqué Friday evening announcing the receipt of the IRI President Ahmadinejad's official invitation letter for attendance at the Non Aligned Movement Tehran Summit.

The NAM Summit would be held on August 30th and 31st in Tehran despite the opposition of the United States and the Zionist regime.

The dispatches have also noted that the presence of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the NAM Summit, too, has been scheduled despite serious objections of both the United States and Tel Aviv.

President Mahmoud Abbas was also invited to the summit and has been preparing a delegation for two months.

Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki told Ma'an news website that Abbas' participation was based on Iranian confirmation that the PA delegation would be the only group representing Palestine in Tehran.

Al-Malki said the host country of the summit needed the approval of the coordination committee of the Non-Aligned Movement to invite participants to the meeting.

The PA minister said that media reports of Haniyeh's planned visit to Iran had not indicated that the Hamas leader would be attending the summit. Haniyeh is scheduled to visit several countries as part of a regional tour later this month.

Abbas leads the Fatah party, whose rivalry with Hamas led to the formation of separate governments in the West Bank and Gaza in 2007.
