Iran to inaugurate Fajr-2 petrochemical unit by March 2013

The construction of Fajr-2 petrochemical unit, located in south of Iran, is now completed by 95.5 percent and will be inaugurated by the end of the current calendar year (March 20, 2013), the ISNA news agency reported.
The construction of the unit started in 2003, with the goal of providing petrochemical complexes in the region with utilities such as electricity, steam, cooling tower water, service water, desalinated water, nitrogen, and oxygen.
"Iran plans to become self-sufficient in producing 19 goods which are strategic in the oil industry," deputy oil minister for technology Mohammad-Reza Moqaddam said.
Mohammad-Reza Moqaddam said that technologies for manufacturing 19 oil goods should be indigenized by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (2015), the Mehr News Agency reported.
"The strategic goods include onshore and offshore drilling rigs, pumps, turbines and precision tools," he noted.
