Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the country is heading toward development.
Speaking during the inauguration of an iron ore concentrate production unit in Kerman province, in the southeast of the country, he said that potentialities of the mining sector have yet to be appreciated, the Mehr news agency reported.
The plant has the capacity to produce two million tons of iron ore concentrate per annum, the IRNA news agency reported. The project has created some 750 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said that Iran holds two per cent of the world's total mineral reserves.
