Some 2.6 million cubic meters of wood is produced from forests in Iran annually, the director of the Natural Resources Department in the Gilan province said.
Rahmatollah Rahmani told the Mehr news agency that preventing from imports of wood and preserving forests are among the main goals of the wood production.
Some 45,000 hectares area of lands is under the cultivation of trees, while the figure was 20,000 hectares in 2003, he noted.
