House rent in Iran increased by 60 percent

The house rent in Iran has increased by 60 percent within the 1390 Iranian year (March 20, 2011- March 21, 2012), compared to the same period of last year (March 20, 2010- March 21, 2011), according to Iran's official Statistics Center.

The house rent in Iran has increased by 60 percent within the 1390 Iranian year (March 20, 2011- March 21, 2012), compared to the same period of last year (March 20, 2010- March 21, 2011), according to Iran's official Statistics Center.

The Sept. 8 report "Information and costs of rental housing in urban areas" by the Stats Center says the average rental price for one square meter in the second half of 2011 equaled to 53,224 rials (approx. $43).

The report also says that the most increase in rental housing has been observen in Iran's capital of Tehran, which accounted to 34,7 percent of overall increase in the second half of 2011.

Rental housing in Tehran has increased by 21,7 percent in the second half of the year, compared to the first half. Also, a 42,1 percent increase in prices has been observed in the second half of 2011, compared to the same period of 2010.

While Tehran holds the first spot among the grown rental housing prices, second comes Iran's South Krorasan province (31 percent increase) and with Ilam province coming third (29,5 percent).

While Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Ali Nikzad has said that the housing market in Iran is currently balanced, the National Association of Real Estate in Iran has noted that the market is too expensive, as a result of which, severe recession in housing is happening.
