Iran fully ready to cooperate with IAEA - ambassador

Islamic Republic of Iran's Ambassador to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, said that IR Iran is fully ready to cooperate with IAEA, IRNA reported.

Soltanieh made the remarks at IAEA headquarters in Vienna on Thursday evening.

"We are ready to cooperate with IAEA without compromising on the issue of national security. We are even ready to facilitate even further cooperation with IAEA for finalization process on the condition that the efforts are aimed at finalizing Iran's case and not pursuing a futile process," he added.

Soltanieh pointed out that IR Iran will never compromise over its right to benefiting from peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment for peaceful purposes under the constant monitoring of the IAEA inspectors and surveillance cameras.

He noted that IR Iran is fully committed to its pledges under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

"We are determined to continue with our talks with NPT with good will and determination," Iranian ambassador added.

On Thursday the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expressed "serious concern" about Tehran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, BBC reported.

Thirty-one out of 35 member states voted in favour of the resolution, one voted against and three abstained.

Iran insists that its nuclear programme is peaceful in purpose but the US, Israel and other states fear it is building nuclear weapons.
