Senior Military Advisor: Iran's Armed Forces ready to push back threats

Senior Military Aide to the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said that Iranian Armed Forces enjoy the highest level of preparedness to defend the country's borders, and added that in the case of any assault against Iran, enemies will receive a crushing response, Fars reported.

The military commander told MNA on Friday that Iran's Armed Forces are well prepared to counter any threat and added enemies are well aware of the country's deterrence power.

Enemies should know that Iran's response to any threat will be destructive and will make the enemies regretful, he added.

The Islamic Republic is now a "stable and powerful" country, Safavi said, adding that Iran's Armed Forces are at the peak in terms of defensive power and preparedness.

"The stupidity of the Zionist regime's leaders to threaten Iran has put the residents of the occupied lands one step away from the grave," said Iranian senior military commander.

Israel and its close ally the United States state that Iran seeks a nuclear weapon. Iran vehemently denies the charges, insisting that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.

Both Israel and the US have recently intensified rhetoric against Iran, saying an attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear site is impending.

Iran has, in return, warned that it would target Israel and its worldwide interests in case it comes under attack by the Tel Aviv.

Iran has also warned that it could close the strategic Strait of Hormuz if it became the target of a military attack over its nuclear program.

Strait of Hormuz, the entrance to the strategic Persian Gulf waterway, is a major oil shipping route.
