Head of Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) announced here Saturday evening that the seven-member Iranian delegation kidnapped in Libya is in good health.

Talking to IRNA, Abolhassan Faqih said the society has managed to hold a telephone conversation between the abducted persons and their family members late Friday (Sept 14) amid the insecure situation prevailing the Libyan city of Benghazi.

He added that they had several meetings with Libyan Foreign Minister Ashour bin Khaya and head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer on the issue on the sidelines of the recent Non-Aligned Movement meeting in Tehran.

"The Libyan officials are negotiating with kidnappers, but no specific date for the release of the abducted Iranians has been announced so far," Faqih said.

Seven-member Iranian delegation comprising officials from the Iranian Red Crescent was kidnapped by the armed forces while visiting Benghazi to sign a cooperation agreement.

The delegation arrived in Libya early August at the invitation of the Libyan Red Crescent.
