Lebanon requests Iranian clarification about IRGC presence

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman requested Monday from Iran's ambassador an official clarification from the Islamic republic over remarks concerning the presence of Iran's Revolutionary Guards in Lebanon, Xinhua reported referring to the National News Agency (NNA).

The NNA report said that Suleiman received Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Rokn-Abadi and discussed with him the latest developments as well as Iran's statements on the presence of IRG members in the country.

According to the NNA, Rokn-Abadi denied the Iranian claims.

On Sunday, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Mohammed Ali Jaafari had stated that members of the elite Quds Force were present in Lebanon and Syria where they are acting as "counselors. "

The Iranian envoy denied that they are offering military assistance in either country.
