Iran’s IOOC plans to boost storage capacity by 8.1 million barrels

The Iranian Offshore Oil Company plans to boost its oil storage capacity by 8.1 million barrels by next September, the IOOC managing director stated.

Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh told the Shana news agency that a storage facility with the capacity of one million barrels has been recently inaugurated and two others with the same total capacity will be inaugurated by the next month.

The projects cost some 200 billion rials ($16.3 million), he noted.

At present, Iran has the capacity to store 11.5 billion litres of fuel which is sufficient for 58 days consumption. Last year, 16 storage facilities were inaugurated nationwide, boosting the country's storage capacity by one billion litres. The storage capacity is planned to hit 14.5 billion litres by 2016.
