Mehdi Hashemi, son of Advisory Board chairman and former Iranian President Ali Hashemi Rafsanjani said he plans to return to Iran from UK in the near future, Mehr reported.

Hashemi had a criminal case filed against him in 2009 after presidential elections in Iran. According to the case, Hashemi has been accused of causing unrests in the country.

He has spent the last three years in UK and has been expected to return to Iran this week, yet the return has been postponed due to some personal problems.

Iranian judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei spoke to the journalists at the press conference, noting that when Hashemi returns to the Islamic Republic, relevant structures will look into his case.

In 2010, children of the former Iranian President Ali Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mehdi and Faiza al-Hashimi have repeatedly been accused on causing disorder in the country.

Large-scale actions to protest the results of presidential elections, held in June 2009, were organized in the country. Thousands of protesters were arrested and dozens of people were killed during the public unrest.

Rafsanjani's daughter Faiza has been arrested twice during rallies, while Mehdi Hashemi has been in the UK ever since.
