The situation with cancer related diseases in Iran has reached alarming levels, according to the country's National Network for Health Policy, Mehr reported.
According to the report, the cancer related problems in the country have increased, as cancer related diseases will develop more in the next 10 years.
It is believed, that 50 percent of all cancer related diseases occur because of improper lifestyle.
The report says that this year about 90,000 cancer affected people have been registered, while 3 years ago this figure was 70,000.
Chief of Iran's Cancer treating Association, Abdulali Fazlalizadeh said that most cancers are being diagnosed after they've been developed.
"If that could be treated at early stages, the chances of recovery significantly increase," Fazlalizadeh said. "It also reduces the treatment costs."
Consultant to Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi, Doctor Hassan Aghajani said that 39 percent of all deaths in the country occur because of cardiovascular diseases.
"The ministry is taking necessary steps in this regard," Aghajani said. "We are setting up special monitoring systems to observe such factors as blood pressure, hyperlipidemia and overweight related problems."
