Thirteen countries have attended the Eleventh Iran international exhibition on confectionary and related machinery, which opened on Tuesday at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds.
Some 230 Iranian companies and 38 foreign companies are showcasing their latest products in the exhibition, according to the ISNA news agency.
Turkey, China, Malaysia, Italy, England, and Germany are among the participants.
Iranian food industries exported over $1.55 billion worth of products in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19, the head of the national association of food industries said in June.
The exports weighed around 895,000 tons, Mohammad Hosseini told the IRNA news agency.
If the government supports exporters, the figure of exports would be increased to $5 billion per year, he said, adding that the exports amounted to $224 million in the year to March 2005.
