National Prosecutor General rejected on Sunday a request by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to visit Evin Prison in northern Tehran, saying it would not be "appropriate", MNA reported

Since a person close to the president is now in Evin Prison such a visit at the current situation would be "politically questionable" and therefore not "appropriate", Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei told a press conference.

Mohseni Ejei was referring to Ali Akbar Javanfekr, the press advisor to the president and the director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Ahmadinejad has written a letter to Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani urging him to order Judiciary officials to make arrangements to for his visit to the prison as soon as possible.
