Explosion caused death of six people, who were neutralizing a mine, one person is injured, Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday.

According to the report, the explosion took place in Kurdistan province's Dehloran region.

Iran-Iraq war started in 1980 and lasted for eight years. During wartime, million hectares of western region lands were mined. Mine zones are currently being cleared in Iran. Iran says some 3 million hectares of Iran's western regions are a mine-affected area.

Eghbal Mohammadi, Iranian Member of Parliament from Kurdistan province said in March that clearing the region from mines would take 40 years time, while expense of neutralizing one hectare mine affected area is about ten million rials ($815 based on official USD rate in Iran).
