Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined rapid changes in regional equations, and urged the regional states to tighten cooperation to secure their national interests, Fars reported.

"Under the current conditions that the political equations of the region are changing fast, close cooperation among the regional countries, including the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, can prove effective in securing the national interests of the countries and their comprehensive development and advancement," Larijani said in a meeting with the officials participating in the 17th ECO Supreme Audit Institutions (ECOSAI) meeting here in Tehran on Saturday.

"The ECO member states which enjoy vast skillful labor force should use the current international atmosphere for further development and economic growth," he said, adding that boosting parliamentary cooperation among ECO member states could play an "important role" in this regard.

Also the heads of the delegations from Turkey, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan who attended the ECOSAI meeting in Tehran, stressed Iran's role in "the advancement of cooperation and exchange of experience among the audit organizations of ECO member states".

The ECOSAI conference kicked off on November 5 where the participants studied educational policies and decided strategies and ways to provide financial support for the Supreme Audit Institutions of ECO member states.

The results of the experts' conference were presented in three separate committees in three days and were placed on the agenda of the 17th session of the ECOSAI presidium board.

ECOSAI President Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli chaired the presidium board meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Formed in 1994, ECOSAI's member states include Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. It is pursuing development of state audit in the member states.
